Somehow, I neglected to blog our wonderful visit with Nick and Wendy. Above is the second installment of a "handsome man playing guitar and singing for Harper. " I wonder if she will be mysteriously drawn to men who can sing and play the guitar her whole life? If so, she comes by it naturally. Anyway, I apologize that is has taken me so long to get these pics up. Nick and Wendy, you deserve better. We loved having y'all here with us and Nick, you sure do make a mean pork tenderloin.

Sunday morning

Harper and Sass enjoy a chilly Sunday morning on the couch.

It's so fun to watch Harper realize that some of her toys (Carmine and Sass) move when she touches them. They haven't quite found the "fun" in it yet, but Buster and I have.

Fall in Nashville

Here's the shortest Phillips in her stoller in the park last weekend. It was a lovely day and we all had fun. We also met two of Carmine's breedmates. Amanda and I were starstruck and probably freaked out the lady with two Spinoni a little bit when we ran up frantically asking her questions. The dogs could not possibly have been less impressed.

What a great six months it has been...

Yesterday, November 2, was Harper's six-month birthday. To say that time is flying would be the understatement of the century. Time is evaporating. Truly.

Now that Harper is six-months-old she does a few things differently. You know, more like the grown-up she is. First, she wears khakis (as pictured above). Second, she eats peas and LOVES them. Third, she flirts. I have no idea where she would have picked this up.

Anyway, we sure do love you little Miss Harper Mae. Happy six-month birthday.

Dad's Choice

Moms are good for a lot. Almost everything, if you really sit down and do the math on it. But dads come in handy as well.

In the blogworld--or the blogosphere as I've just decided to start calling it--moms are good for providing really cute shots, heartbreaking little smiles and overall quality baby representation.

Dads tie terrycloth belts around their heads and plop babies down on the bed for self-portrait sessions.

Well, the good ones do.

Mid-week post

I just thought you all would enjoy seeing Harper in her precious new dress. Harper has her Nana and her dear friends Flavia and Anna to thank for her Fall wardrobe. Thank you to you all for helping make Harper the cutest baby at school...and maybe all the world.

Harper is looking for you! BP is out of town and Harper seems to be searching for him everytime we walk into a new room. She is definitely a Daddy's girl.

Today, we welcome to the world, Amelia B Piper... and it is almost instantly a better place.

Amelia, I have a very good feeling that you and Harper will be fast and firm friends. I look forward to watching that happen.

Hi, Nonnie! I miss you!

Dear Nonnie,

School is ok. We lie on the floor, take naps and practice sitting up. My teachers are nice and play music. Sometimes we take buggy rides. It's not like staying home with you, though, so come see me soon, ok?

Eating?

Harper has made the somewhat sloppy transition into what most people refer to as eating. Bp and I just aren't quite sure she is actually swallowing anything, but it's really fun to watch her try.

Settling in

So, we survived Harper's first week of school. (She even seemed to like it a little bit.) According to her teacher, she and Elise (her new BFF) enjoy laughing and kicking with each other! This small glimpse into her daily life without me gave me an inordinate amount of comfort. Anyway, BP and I apologize for the lack of blog activity. I can't believe we ever used to casually throw around the phrase, "we're so busy!" Ha!

Hopefully this collage from our beach trip will catch you all up a bit.

School

Harper started school today. I only cried for a portion of the day, which is better than I expected to do. Her teachers were nice and she made some new friends. I think it would all be fine if only I could attend with her. 

Cousins

It's fun to think about the fact that these three will be stirring up trouble together for the rest of their lives. The two little people flanking Harper are her cousins, Miranda (the beautiful gal holding Harper) and Collin (the handsome and mischievous one).

People, Places and Things

OK, ready? We've got a lot of catching up to do. First, a big shout-out to Nonnie who is enjoying a week off from Harper duty. We miss you, Nonnie, and hope Palm Springs is treating you well.

(She's not really in Palm Springs, it just sounds like a place a person might go on vacation.)

Next, we went to the zoo with Harper's Aunt and Uncle, Ryan and Meghan and her cousin Collin. We saw meerkats, elephants, some monkeys and a bongo.

That's the whole crew.

Then we had crab legs with shrimp and sausage and a blue cheese wedge, with crusty French bread and butter. Cuz we take our meals seriously.


Also, Harper was a real dreamboat and was photographed often.
